Class discussion reflection
Wednesday's class discussion did not meet my exceptions. The discussion took a fairly long while to get going. some of that is my fault. I did not speak til near the end and for that i am very disappointed in myself. i was waiting for the right time to jump into the conversation and by doing that i allowed for great ideas to be said except for my own. If we want to win the next class discussion we will have to have more participation and more original arguments. Although we lost, i believe we made some very important points that hopefully had an impact on other students opinions.

SB 1070, both sides
For it: illegal immigration is a serious problem that needs to be stopped. SB 1070 can help with that problem. The government is losing money because we pay for their healthcare and the benefits that we as citizens should be provided. Why can’t we have benefits for free and illegal immigrants pay?
Against it: racial profiling is insulting, degrading, and un-American. America is supposed to be the land of opportunity but I guess I missed the second half where it said that opportunity was for white skinned people. About 200 years ago we asked for Mexicans to come into America and live here. We NEEDED them to live here to farm our crops. Now that they are done with the work we needed them to do we want to send them back? Didn’t we declare a person is not property? So why do we want to return them like some old toy we don’t want to play with anymore? If we want to stop immigration why can’t we find a different solution to this problem?

Two suspected U.S. drone strikes killed 13 alleged militants in Pakistan's tribal region Tuesday, intelligence officials said.
The first strike killed nine people. Two intelligence officials said three missiles were fired Tuesday morning on the suspected hideout of militants in the Shawal area of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
The second strike killed four people in Pakistan's tribal region Tuesday evening, intelligence officials said.
Two missiles were fired on the vehicle of suspected militants in the area Qutab Khel of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's volatile tribal region bordering Afghanistan, two intelligence officials said.
The intelligence officials asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
On Sunday, a suspected U.S. drone strike killed five suspected militants, while last week, officials said suspected drone strikes killed another 29 suspected militants in the region.
While the United States is the only country in the region known to have the ability to launch missiles from drones - which are controlled remotely - U.S. officials normally do not comment on suspected drone strikes

SUMMARY OF MY DAY 9/11/10
I only remembering seeing it on the channel 9 news and my mom telling me i can't go to school that day. it didn't hit the next day what had happened. Yesterday i went to the Angels game (although i am a dodger fan) with my best friend and they had a huge flag and a moment of silence and the crowd, for once, was completely silent. It was a very nice way to pay respect for those who lost their lives that tragic day. I had a great time at the game but because of that day 9 years ago it mad me a little sad. I came home and turned on the news and it was showing some people reading the names of the loved ones they lost on 9/11. A girl who's name i didn't find, around 14 years old read her father's name aloud and then i started to think for a bit. this girl grew up with out a father because of a few extremist. They was no reason for him to die. I didn't want to think of it anymore so i turned off the TV and went next door.

breaking news explosion
Joe Miller (R) made statements on CNN today about Obama such as he is "bad for America" and he "put it down" instead of helping America.
Another very big deal in America is hurricane Earl. It was last reported as a category 4 and may move up to a category 5. according to CNN it should continue to turn and move out of the way. CNN will update this later today
