teacher interview

1. what do you think about merit pay?
I think teachers will cheat by helping the students as best as they can. such as seeing the test ahead.
2. what improvements do you think our school needs?
a lot of improvements need to be done, things like: tardy's, student responsibility and all teachers should restrict Ipod's and cell phones during class class better.
3. do you think this school is over populated?
No i think the school is physically capable of this many students. i say it's just a lack of teacher's
4. will you be willing to take in more students if there aren't enough teacher's?
no
5.how do you feel about the over crowding of students and what necessary step do you feel should be taken to fix these issues?
unfortunately there is  no money but the solution is to hire more teachers
6. would you be willing to invest your own money into your classes if budget cuts get worse?
already do, a lot

Class discussion reflection

Wednesday's class discussion did not meet my exceptions. The discussion took a fairly long while to get going. some of that is my fault. I did not speak til near the end and for that i am very disappointed in myself. i was waiting for the right time to jump into the conversation and by doing that i allowed for great ideas to be said except for my own. If we want to win the next class discussion we will have to have more participation and more original arguments. Although we lost, i believe we made some very important points that hopefully had an impact on other students opinions.

SB 1070, both sides

For it: illegal immigration is a serious problem that needs to be stopped. SB 1070 can help with that problem.  The government is losing money because we pay for their healthcare and the benefits that we as citizens should be provided. Why can’t we have benefits for free and illegal immigrants pay?

Against it:  racial profiling is insulting, degrading, and un-American. America is supposed to be the land of opportunity but I guess I missed the second half where it said that opportunity was for white skinned people. About 200 years ago we asked for Mexicans to come into America and live here. We NEEDED them to live here to farm our crops. Now that they are done with the work we needed them to do we want to send them back? Didn’t we declare a person is not property? So why do we want to return them like some old toy we don’t want to play with anymore? If we want to stop immigration why can’t we find a different solution to this problem?

"DROPPING BOMBS ON YOUR MOM'S!"

Two suspected U.S. drone strikes killed 13 alleged militants in Pakistan's tribal region Tuesday, intelligence officials said.
The first strike killed nine people. Two intelligence officials said three missiles were fired Tuesday morning on the suspected hideout of militants in the Shawal area of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
The second strike killed four people in Pakistan's tribal region Tuesday evening, intelligence officials said.

Two missiles were fired on the vehicle of suspected militants in the area Qutab Khel of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's volatile tribal region bordering Afghanistan, two intelligence officials said.

The intelligence officials asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
On Sunday, a suspected U.S. drone strike killed five suspected militants, while last week, officials said suspected drone strikes killed another 29 suspected militants in the region.
While the United States is the only country in the region known to have the ability to launch missiles from drones - which are controlled remotely - U.S. officials normally do not comment on suspected drone strikes

SUMMARY OF MY DAY 9/11/10

I only remembering seeing it on the channel 9 news and my mom telling me i can't go to school that day. it didn't hit the next day what had happened. Yesterday i went to the Angels game (although i am a dodger fan) with my best friend and they had a huge flag and a moment of silence and the crowd, for once, was completely silent. It was a very nice way to pay respect for those who lost their lives that tragic day. I had a great time at the game but because of that day 9 years ago it mad me a little sad. I came home and turned on the news and it was showing some people reading the names of the loved ones they lost on 9/11. A girl who's name i didn't find, around 14 years old read her father's name aloud and then i started to think for a bit. this girl grew up with out a father because of a few extremist. They was no reason for him to die. I didn't want to think of it anymore so i turned off the TV and went next door.

breaking news explosion

Joe Miller (R) made statements on CNN today about Obama such as he is "bad for America" and he "put it down" instead of helping America.

Another very big deal in America is hurricane Earl. It was last reported as a category 4 and may move up to a category 5. according to CNN it should continue to turn and move out of the way. CNN will update this later today

8/31/10 class discussion

Today in government class we had a class discussion regarding the mosque project in New York, New York that happens to be very close to ground zero. Very interesting points were made by very many different people. A point that caught my attention was when a girl brought up freedom of religion and how its the first amendment. She also stated that Muslims are already praying there. The first amendment states "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." it does not say we must allow follows of a religion to build a place for worship or prayer. If they wish to build the mosque there then they should wait for a memorial or for the tower to be rebuilt. If they do not have the patience to wait then they should fund the rebuilding of the twin tower. Honestly, i say they already worship there and that is what the first amendment grants them. A mosque will only be built for the symbolism. I learned that many people are in favor of the mosque. I also learned that people dont care about it. Luis mentioned that around 36 mexicans were killed by immigration. He was very upset about how people cared more about a building in New York more then people being killed just next door. I just wished he would have said that earlier because i would have loved to dicuss that topic. Is a building really more important than human lives?

Senator Durbin and former President Bush are in favor of the mosque

No. 2 Democrat in Senate Invokes Bush on Mosque Debate-http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/23/democrat-senate-invokes-bush-mosque-debate/
FOX News-

Illinois Senator Durbin states he is in favor of the mosque being built so close to ground zero. He admits he didn't always see eye to eye with Bush but he says he did a good job after 9/11. Durbin thinks he did a good job pointing out who the war was with. Durbin makes the statement "those against the proposed mosque are trying to divide America with fear and hate." Does this mean everyone who is against the mosque is some kind of terrorist? Are American citizen's trying to divide America? No they are not. i believe this statement is absurd. The question i would like to ask Senator Durbin is, would you be in favor of a mosque being built two blocks away from your personal home?

My side on the mosque war

Before I state my personal opinion on the mosque debate I want to point out that both sides have good arguments. The Pro-mosque party states reasons as it’s their 1st amendment right to freedom of religion. However, we are NOT denying them their religion, we just do not want a new mosque so near ground zero in respect of the 9/11 victims. Muslims have a mosque only four blocks away from ground zero so why did they need a new one? New York isn’t the only state having a mosque infestation; Murfreesboro, Tennessee is against a building of a mosque as well. Laurie cardoza-moore, mosque opposition leader, states Islam teaches Muslims that Jews and Christians are infidels and should be killed. She also states that she is trying to stop the advancement of radicalism Islam in the United States. Many people back in New York are showing their passion with signs. After reading many articles and seeing many pictures/videos/signs, I decided I am personally against the building of the mosque. I believe it is wrong to build a mosque so close to where the twin towers were destroyed by Muslim hijackers. So many people died that day and we should be just as offended as the property owner. I am truly against it although it is not in my control. I say the United States should compromise with them somehow and we can get passed this so we can have a win-win situation

Mosque vs. Ground Zero

http://www.time.com/time/video/player/0,32068,591015933001_2012328,00.html
Time.com-
This is a video with Muslim’s perceptive on the building of the mosque two blocks away from ground zero. About three minutes into the video a Muslim lady really caught my attention when she said she is not responsible for what the terrorist did on 9/11. I started to think about it about and I agree. Why should all Muslims be punished for the act of a few extremists who just happened to be Muslim? What if they were Jewish? Or Buddhist? Would we do the same to them? I have not chosen a side on this controversy yet but I plan too soon. I am currently trying to learn as much as I could and I am trying to b opened minded.
